March 5 : MY SWEET AFFAIR (’20 f. Twirling Candy / Illicit Affair) made her first start a winning one on Sunday at Gulfstream Park. Sent off as the favorite in an 11-horse maiden special weight contest, the filly sat a pace-stalking third until mid-stretch when she found another gear and easily cleared the field to win by 2 ½ lengths.
MY SWEET AFFAIR was purchased by GATSAS STABLE for $72,000 out of last years OBS April Sale. She races for the partnership of R.A. HILL STABLE and GATAS STABLE and conditioner GEORGE WEAVER.
We wish this talented filly and her connections all the best in the future.
February 18 : R.T. RACING STABLE and CYPRESS CREEK EQUINE’s SUN THUNDER (’20 c. Into Mischief / Greenfield d’Oro) picked up 24 Kentucky Derby points Saturday at the Fair Grounds when running a gutsy second in the Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes.
Settled well back of the pace, SUN THUNDER negotiated traffic while making a huge move to take the lead in the stretch only to be caught by Angel of Empire and come up a length short of the win at the finishing post.
Trained by KEN McPEAK, this talented three-year-old has only been off the board once in four career starts. He has earned $181,250.
Best of luck this spring to SUN THUNDER and all of his connections.
